Diabetic Gift Baskets: Go Fresh And Natural
Continued From << Diabetic Gift Baskets
Look for specialty.
If you don’t want the same old same-old, why not use specialty items to complete your gift basket? Diabetics have special needs and while common items are often made up of the more generalized 'sugar-free' or 'diabetic-formulated' stuff, there are certain gift basket vendors who offer diabetic specialty foods that are not available anywhere else. Why not give a gift that is not common holiday or special occasion fare? It's more memorable that way.
Go for fresh and natural gift baskets.
There is a possibility your diabetic friend is tired of the same old formulated sugar-free sweets, candies and cakes. Why not give a gift basket filled with fresh fruits instead? Fruits have natural sweeteners that will not complicate a diabetic condition and they are a great source of fiber and will not contribute to weight gain.
Look for favorite fruits, seasonal harvest, new varieties, cross breeds and hybrids, or you can pay extra and have some of those exotic fruits imported and wrapped together to make a one-of-a-kind gift basket any diabetic will be pleasantly surprised to have.
Avoid food gift baskets altogether.
Use your imagination. Just because your recipient is diabetic does not mean you should automatically bring food. Think about this: if the person you're giving a gift to is diabetic, chances are he or she already has a diet plan in place and is already well informed about which food items to pick and which ones to avoid. You probably are in no position to try to lecture her with a gift basket, unless of course you're a doctor.
Try different varieties for a diabetic gift basket. Personal care, for example, is an important part of any diabetic's life. Why not give a gift basket that offers all natural skin and foot care products? Or try to put together a crafts gift basket or a collection of books from a favorite author? A gift basket for a diabetic doesn’t necessarily have to emphasize the condition - it just needs to be a thoughtful, lovely gift that you will love giving and the other person will love receiving.
