Diet is one of the best solutions for diabetes but unfortunately one of the hardest ones to achieve. The secret to be able to attain it is to have the motivation to follow the diet; you may have several reasons but the key is motivation. Next would be the ones available over the internet, a free diabetic diet plan. So why was it really important to have a diabetic plan?

Having a diabetic diet

The importance of a diabetic diet is to guide the patient in his plan to lose weight and to regulate his sugar intake: it helps him calculate and distribute the food according to the nutrients and its caloric content. Depending on the type of diabetes, diet plans are actually modifiable. For instance, if the patient is a type 1 diabetic then he should only lessen his caloric consumption by 35 calories per kilogram of his body weight every single day, whereas if he's a type 2 diabetic then he would have to lose 1500 to 1800 calories per day in order to keep his body in state where it constantly loses body weight.

Then again, this calculation of calorie loss would be subject to the patient's age, gender, activity level and lifestyle. We can't just apply a single and uniform amount of calories that should be lost by every person, but rather it has to be on a case-to-case basis. Patients who are obese should of course lose more weight and calories than the ones who are not.

The diabetic diet must be complemented byregular exercise, because muscles are formed through exercise and one element that helps burn fats are those muscles.

As a rule, lower consumption of carbohydrates results in less blood sugar; that is why most diet plans lessen the carbohydrate consumption of the patient who is using it. A rough estimate of 50% should be the proportion of carbohydrates in the everyday calorie intake of a diabetic. The patient must be careful though that the decreased intake of carbohydrates does not result in greater consumption of fatty foods.

Understanding Food Groups

There are three basic nutrient classifications: fats, proteins and carbohydrates. The carbohydrates are the foods that can be broken down into sugar. It is essential to have all three food groups in your diet to have good nutrition. Carbohydrates play an essential role in our normal body operation but when taken without moderation it has the capacity to intensify our blood's sugar level.  Most of the carbohydrates that we consume are found in all the three food groups.  You need to worry that every food you are eating are carbohydrate filled because there exists nowadays the so called, free foods.

But with these free foods, you no longer have to do the counting because these ones have fewer calories than what we can imagine. As a matter of fact, it only has not more than 20 calories per serving. Some of the free foods include broth, sugar-free gelatin and all other products that are sugar-free, and the carbonated water. Free diabetic meal plans also involve menus which people have to eat for a particular meal time and the exact amount which the patient has to eat. For instance, during breakfast a patient should only eat a single slice of bread, with two eggs and 4 ounces of juice.
